Pasadena Community Supper Club events are not possible without financial support.

Initially this meant a financial commitment from the founding team, that of a few close friends, and a generous gift from family. Long-term, we hope that will expand to include the support of donors near and far, either on a "per plate" basis, regular monthly contributors to support our events, and in the form of charitable foundation and trust grants we will apply for.

It costs approximately $5 per plate we serve.

Most of that cost is in the food, and it also includes the rented commercial kitchen space required to prepare the meal, serving equipment and dinnerware (plates, cups, utensils, and napkins), transportation costs involved in purchasing the ingredients and moving the final product from the kitchen to the event location, and other (minimal) miscellaneous costs.

Our Golden Rule of Food: Serve unto others only what we would serve unto you.

We are learning how best to balance our desire to serve great food with the responsibility to use our resources wisely and feed the most people possible. Even if we could, we would never offer such things as Wagyu beef or black truffles. But we do want to give our guests the same experience as if we invited you over for dinner in our homes. That means a commitment to quality proteins and produce, balanced and healthy menus, with everything prepared and served fresh.

The Supper Club is in the process of filing for 501(c)(3) federal tax-deductible status.

This is a lengthy and involved process that cannot be rushed, involving advice from accountants and attorneys. For any nonprofit groups, including ours, that receives its 501(c)(3) designation within the first 27 months of its existence, all donors can receive a charitable gift receipt and giving statement going to back to the organization's founding date. (Ours is July 2018.)
